Restriction Categories

  • Illegal under EU law or the law of a relevant country.
  • CITES-controlled or protected by EU wildlife trade rules.
  • Invasive alien species subject to sale, keeping, transport, import, growing, breeding, or release restrictions.
  • Phytosanitary, quarantine, protected-zone, import/export, or plant-passport restricted.
  • Prohibited by Piantera policy, allowed only with documentation, or temporarily blocked pending review.

No Exhaustive Static Species List

Piantera should not publish an apparently exhaustive species list unless each record has a scientific name, verified common name where relevant, territory, restriction type, official source, source review date, required documentation, platform action, and review status. Use official sources such as CITES, Species+, EPPO, EU plant-health sources, and national authorities.

Platform Action

  • Listings may be rejected, hidden, removed, or escalated when restriction risk is suspected.
  • Sellers may be asked for documentation, origin, propagation, plant-passport, phytosanitary, or permit details.
  • Piantera does not infer legality merely because a species was not found in one list.
